A bit of history

Burbank was named for dentist-turned-developer David Burbank and incorporated as a city in 1911, its early economy built on sheep ranching and orchards. The film industry arrived in 1926 when First National Pictures built a studio lot there, and Warner Bros. acquired a majority stake in First National by 1928, moving its productions to Burbank soon after. Walt Disney followed in 1940, building a new studio on Buena Vista Street with profits from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Warner Bros. and Disney remain headquartered in Burbank today alongside other major production companies, earning it the nickname "Media Capital of the World."
