Many solid tumor treatments stop working because cancer cells lose or mutate the receptors that targeted therapies rely on, leaving patients with aggressive, treatment-resistant cancers out of options.
Resolute Science develops Macrophage-Targeted Conjugates (MAC-TACs), synthetic drug conjugates that use tumor-associated macrophages to deliver cytotoxic or radiotherapeutic payloads to nearby cancer cells.
By targeting stable, non-dividing tumor-associated macrophages instead of the cancer cells themselves, they say their approach bypasses common resistance mechanisms; their lead candidate RS-5 has shown anti-cancer efficacy across 22 preclinical studies in 10 tumor models.
Founded by Dr. Faith H. Barnett, the San Diego biotech has received investment from NuFund Venture Group.
