AstroForge builds low-cost, autonomous, replicable spacecraft to track and mine metal-rich asteroids in deep space, with its DeepSpace-2 mission set to rendezvous with a near-Earth asteroid.

The company cites asteroid mining margins of roughly 85% versus about 7% for terrestrial mining, states a single metal-rich asteroid could supply Earth's demand for 200 years, and frames DeepSpace-2 as the first-ever commercial rendezvous with a body outside the planetary gravity well.

AstroForge was founded by Matthew Gialich and Jose Acain with the explicit goal of becoming the first company to mine an asteroid, and has raised over $40 million toward that mission.
